This work targets the gap between interest in investing in SDGs and the business models that could provide investable opportunity.

The SDG Investor Map is a market intelligence product produced by UNDP Country Offices and partners to help private investors (funds, financiers, corporations) identify investment opportunities and business models that have significant potential to advance the SDGs. The aim of the SDG Investor Map is to provide investors with actionable data and insights to enable them to use their capital for good, while making a financial profit. UNDP thereby helps to contribute to filling the SDG-financing gap by directing private capital to where it can most make a difference to people and the planet. On September 25, 2015, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: an action plan for people, the planet, prosperity, and universal peace. It has 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 specific goals to be developed by 2030. The private sector is called to play a central role in this road map, which is at the same time an unprecedented responsibility and opportunity to align the objectives of a business with those of equity and sustainability. In the Global Compact, as a UN initiative for the business sustainability of the private sector, we hold the mandate of the United Nations to act as a catalyst for the efforts of companies and organizations in achieving the SDGs
Achieving the SDGs requires the global and local collective action of companies, their ecosystems and their commitment to the government and the different sectors of civil society. Raising this ambition among companies and financial partners in accelerating progress begins with adopting contributions as the main target as per SDG Platform action. With clear guidelines of SDG Platform for not committing negative impacts, the SDGs help companies incorporate the vision of positive impact. As leaders of the world’s investment and business community, we are committed to increase our contribution to the achievement of the SDGs. The members of the Global Investors for Sustainable Development (GISD) Alliance develop and implement solutions for scaling up long-term investment for sustainable developments. We all know that we face big challenges in today’s world: poverty, hunger, inequality, and climate change are just some of the issues we need to address urgently. Big challenges need bold action to overcome them, and that is where the Global Goals come in. They are a plan agreed to by all world leaders to build a greener, fairer, better world by 2030, and we all have a role in achieving them. Get to know each of the Goals and the targets and resources about SDG Platform:
The SDG Investor Platform provides data, information, and insights on investment opportunities with potential to contribute to sustainable development. Find SDG-aligned investment opportunities that matter. Start by filtering by region, country, or sector. The SDG Investor Platform is powered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and created by the Sustainable Finance Hub (SFH) initiative SDG Impact, which focuses on generating and leveraging private sector capital in delivering the SDGs. Launched as a “start-up” in September 2018, SDG Impact aims to provide investors, businesses and others with unified standards, tools, and services required to authenticate their contributions to achieving the SDGs and to identify SDG investment opportunities in emerging economies and developing countries. Building on one of the tools of SDG Impact – the SDG Investor Maps – and leveraging on UNDP’s presence in more than 170 countries and territories, the SDG Investor Platform, established in partnership with the Global Investors for Sustainable Development (GISD) Alliance and with support from the UN Department of Economics and Social Affairs (UNDESA), provides private sector investors with access to country level market intelligence,
including on-the-ground insights on local investment landscape and investor connections. The SDG Investor Platform also offers opportunities for collaboration, including with the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and the UN Global Compact, and guides investors and businesses in delivering impact, including through the SDG Impact Standards and the GISD Navigator.
