WFWO & SDG GLOBAL AGENDA

ONE WORLD ONE HOPE

The Global Agenda and SDGs: A Common Vision and Global Commitment to Action
Through its consultative relationship with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), governed by the principles contained in ECOSOC Resolution 1996/31, WFWO works to promote dialogue, advocacy, partnerships, and resource mobilization in support of internationally agreed development goals and global commitments.
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) demonstrated that international cooperation and collective action can make significant progress in reducing poverty and improving human development. Building on the achievements and lessons of the MDGs, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides a broader framework for action through the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
WFWO recognizes that achieving these common goals requires continued commitment, practical action, partnerships, and the mobilization of resources. In this context, WFWO seeks to strengthen its contribution to the implementation of the SDGs and to support efforts to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities, promote inclusive and sustainable development, and improve living conditions for communities and vulnerable populations.
WFWO Action and Projects Supporting the 17 SDGs
WFWO’s programmes and project facilities are designed to contribute to the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals through integrated and people-centred action.
WFWO/SHH Project Facility
The WFWO/SHH Project Facility focuses particularly on social and affordable housing as an integrated development approach. Access to adequate housing is closely connected with poverty reduction, health and well-being, access to basic services, employment and livelihoods, sustainable communities, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion.
Through the WFWO/SHH Project Facility, housing and community development initiatives can contribute directly and indirectly to the implementation of the SDGs, while supporting an integrated approach to sustainable development.
Integrated Contribution to the SDGs
The WFWO/SHH Project Facility provides a framework through which social housing and related community-development activities can be aligned with the 17 SDGs, including:
- SDG 1 – No Poverty: Supporting vulnerable households and contributing to improved living conditions and economic security.
- SDG 2 – Zero Hunger: Supporting community resilience and initiatives addressing food security and nutrition where relevant.
- SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being: Promoting healthy, safe, and adequate housing and living environments.

A Common Framework for Action
WFWO views the SDGs as a common global framework for cooperation and action. The WFWO/SHH Project Facility seeks to translate this framework into practical initiatives at community level, particularly through social housing, sustainable infrastructure, community development, partnerships, and resource mobilization.
Through these actions, WFWO aims to contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda while supporting the principle of leaving no one behind.
